Nothing Like a good parade- 4th of July weekend

And here you thought I was done with 4th of July weekend posts.  Nope- we did a ton of stuff that weekend.

Anyway, one of my favorite things is small town parades. We have attended a few of the big town parade's (i.e. Grand Old Day) and I have to tell you I am always disappointed.  They are too busy, things are too elaborate and they are never as well organized as they should be.  Somehow however, smaller towns seem to be able to pull it off!

We actually hit two parades over the 4th of July weekend up by Luke's parents house- one in Bowlus (yes I had never heard of this town before either) and Hillman.  They are both super small towns- and therefore they were plenty of fun and there wasn't a ton of competition for the candy.

One thing-  Marcus was super tired all weekend from playing too hard.... it is easy to see in his face, it looks like he is ready to fall asleep while watching the parade.

Sleepy boy watching the parade

My favorite part!  The oxen at the end!

The Hillman Parade

Marcus loved this tractor!

At the end of the day I liked the Bowlus parade a little bit better- mainly because I liked the oxen so much but they are both really great!

4th of July Weekend- More posts

We had an awesome 4th of July weekend.  It was full of many adventures and here are a few:

Marcus Biking on the road by Grandma and Grandpas.

Little bit of bedtime reading with Grandpa!
Playing in the Hosta Garden!

Mommy went biking into town with Daddy- She can sure be silly!

Now it is grandma's time to read the tractor book.

Marcus brought lots of toys!

There was also a lot of good cuddlying with Grandpa and Grandma!

Daddy also snuck away for a nice bike ride across the country side!  Mommy and Marcus followed behind in the car.

And it wouldn't be 4th of July weekend without a fireworks show!

Overall a very successful weekend!

Father Hennepin State Park- Call of the Wildflower

So I think that we have all learned that I really struggle to get posts up in July and August.  This isn't because we aren't doing anything but instead because we are so busy and the sun goes down so late that I just don't want to blog.  So here it is at the end of August- and I have so far behind.  Here is goes:

Over the 4th of July weekend we actually visited one of the prettiest Minnesota State Parks-  Father Hennepin.  When we visited it the first time in 2014 I was enchanted with how pretty the trees where- it sits right on the south east shoreline of Mille Lacs Lake/
Luke actually biked all the way to the park from his parents house, while Marcus and I followed and supported.
When we got to the park the first thing that we did was buy a new state park sticker.  Right now I have 3 of them on my car, and I know that in the future I will have to take them off but that makes me kind of sad, so I'm going to leave them a bit longer.
After that was taken care of it was time to start the Geocache!

Back on the trail and in search of the final location.

Marcus is such a pro at finding these and opening them it is super cute.

After we left the geocache we realized that we had forgotten to put the travel bug we brought along in it so I ran back.  Not my best selfie but I ran back while the boys waited in the car.

Here is the flower card.
