Father's day Twins game

On Father's Day we had the chance to go to the Minnesota Twins again-  it was against the New York Yankees.  The Twins have not been having a great season so we had low expectation-  we were so surprised when they pulled it off.

It was a fun day at the ball park!

Minnetonka Summer Fest

The last Saturday of June is Minnetonka Summerfest.  This is a great event for families in Minnetonka  and we have went for the past two years.

The event starts with a "tot trot"-  Marcus was so excited to run.  The 2-3 year race is about 1 block long.

Marcus ran into one of his daycare friends Logan.  They look ready to run!

Get ready to start now!  They have to follow a golf cart.

Marcus ran and ran.  I ran by him on the side of the road (that is what most of the parents were doing) and he ran along, until he lost me.  Then he stopped and just looked until I found him again.  Then we ran to the balloons at the finish line!

When the run was over we visited some of the other activities that the city of Minnetonka set up.  They had a ton of big blown up bounce houses and such.  Marcus didn't go into any of the bounce houses but he did ride in the fun cars.  He liked the firetrucks.

They had a lot of fun things set up include polices car and a DNR station with turtles.  Marcus got to pet the painted turtle.  He was hesitant but he liked it.

The last thing we checked out what the petting Zoo.  It was fun but there was this funny horse that snorted every time Marcus got near.  He was not a fan of that ran away any time that "naughty' horse got near.

A second lake trip

At some point in June we went back to the late for a second time!
We did some fun things....

Like eat strawberries- straight out of the garden.

We read the local newspaper and learned about a parade.  He is something I have learned.  Small town parades are where it is at- they are so much better than the parades in the cities.  More fun floats, faster, more candy and way less people.  As a result we try to hit smaller town parades whenever possible.

Marcus LOVED it!  I call this photo- happy boy!

I know we have some more parades we are going to hit this summer.  This really is the year that Marcus "gets" it-  he really understands things now and figured most of the parade thing out- although he still gets so distracted by the first piece of candy that he forgets to get more.

He loves the bands and the people.

It was a lot of fun and I am so glad we went.

Birthday Party

Marcus' Fourth Birthday Party

Marcus is getting so big and this year for his birthday party he was highly involved in the planning process. He knew exactly what we he wanted and helped me pull it all together.  First came the theme for the party.  He actually had problems deciding between farm and puppies but in the end he picked farms!  We got the invitations out in plenty of time.  He invited all of his favorite people.  These are some of the highlight from the day.

The big three items of the party were:
Piñata
Bounce House
Cake

Marcus was very involved in planning for all of this.

Before this party Marcus didn't know a lot about piñata's but we started watching YouTube videos of people breaking piñata's and he got really excited about it.  We looked online and decided to go with the tractor piñata- after all you can never go wrong with John Deere!

Marcus especially liked filling the piñata with candy.

His other big wish was a bounce house----- Here is the funny story behind the bounce house.  Marcus is fascinated by bounce houses but they also really kind of scare him.  Normally, he walks around them and feels the outside but never actually goes in.  But he REALLY wanted one for his party.   We can up with an agreement and the week before his party they had a bounce house at daycare and we agreed if he bounced- he would get a bounce house.

He bounced for 10 seconds but a deal is a deal and he was so excited.

We went online and he picked out the "castle" bounce house.  They delivered it hours before the party and we were so excited that he got in and bounced (Mommy did too).

Marcus also helped plan the menu for the day.  We had corn on the cob, watermelon, and lots of other foods.  These are just some of Marcus' favorites.
Instead of toys we gave all of the people who
came really fun cookies.

Finally after all of the work and the planning it was PARTY TIME.

Bounce House Fun!

Cake

We got a super cute cake-  please ignore the mistake (they put 3 instead of 4 and had to fix it)

Piñata

We also had a piñata and it was so much fun but it took a lot longer to break than I expected.  Everyone got lots of hits at the tractor before it finally broke open.

 Gifts

Marcus got pretty much everything a little boy could possible want.  What a great day!
